CIES have published their monthly report, and The Football Observatory have been doing some more brilliant technical analysis.
The data gurus have compiled over 7,000 data profiles on players from 36 leagues, and in their analysis they have made a rather interesting finding.
Indeed, CIES have picked out the player in Europe who is the most technically similar to Erling Haaland.
Haaland is undoubtedly one of the best strikers on the continent, so as you can imagine, the player who ranks the most similarly to him is another hotshot in the shape of Dusan Vlahovic.
Tottenham and Arsenal fans may want to look away now.
Indeed, the Serbian’s goals speak for themselves, but it seems as though the underlying data for Vlahovic is also incredible as his profile is the closest match to Haaland’s in all of Europe.
To be honest, this isn’t too much of a surprise. They’re both physically dominating strikers that are unbelievably clinical in front of goal, so before you even look at the stats, the similarities are there for all to see.
Sadly, both Tottenham and Arsenal couldn’t manage to broker a deal to bring Vlahovic to the Premier League in January or in the summer, and he’s made his big-money move to Juventus where he continues to impress in Serie A.
The north Londoners both missed out on the nearest thing to Erling Haaland.
