The Irish striker has been released from his contract with Leeds United by mutual consent.

Leeds United have allowed striker Noel Hunt to leave the club on a free transfer. The Irishman arrived at the club from Reading in 2013, following in the footsteps of former boss Brian McDermott.

But he has not been a hit at Elland Road. Hunt has played 22 times for the club but has never scored and recently spent a spell on loan at Ipswich Town to gain some needed first-team football, where he managed to score one goal in four appearances.

Now he has cancelled his contract by mutual consent at Leeds and will be looking for a new club in the coming month.

But the player is not bitter toward the club after his exit, telling the official Leeds website:

“I feel no bitterness in anyway towards anyone associated at the club. All the way from the president, to all the coaching and general staff at Thorp Arch and at Elland Road, I’d like to say thank you.

“Everyone made the experience as enjoyable as possible and I’d also like to thank the supporters for everything you have shown me. I leave the club with many happy memories.

“My home is in Leeds and that will continue and I have made many friends during my time at the club.

“It didn’t quite happen for me here for whatever reason. But I appreciate the support I have received, whether that be on or off the field. I love the club and I’ll be taking the positives from my time at Leeds United.

“I wish all the boys, Neil Redfearn and the supporters well for the rest of the season and the future.”

Leeds fans will admit Hunt never took Elland Road by storm but they will certainly not begrudge him any better luck in the future.
