It wasn’t that long ago that Liverpool were linked with Kylian Mbappe.
Back in October, Marca reported that the Reds were keen on signing the France international.
This, bear in mind, was related to the overall story from The Guardian that Mbappe himself was keen to leave Paris Saint-Germain.
And with Manchester City already having Erling Haaland, well it came back to Liverpool and Real Madrid being two of the most probable destinations.
Whether he winds up at Anfield or not in 2023 remains to be seen but, if he does, he could cost a serious amount of money.
That’s because according to new figures by CIES this morning, the 24-year-old is even worth more than Haaland at City.

As you can see from the graphic, the reported Liverpool target is worth around £168.8 million – £14 million more than the Norway international.
Both are pretty much the best attacking players in world football right now but what a gamechanger it could be if Jurgen Klopp were to get him.
Unlikely as it may seem, there really aren’t a lot of options if he were to quit PSG, with Liverpool and Madrid, as mentioned, being the only logical ones.
Of course, Klopp already has an expensive hitman in the form of Darwin Nunez, but the Uruguay international is struggling.
A truly world-class striker or winger may be needed on Merseyside going forward, with Mohamed Salah likely to slowly decline due to the aging process.
And what a gamechanger of an addition Mbappe could be.
