Some Arsenal fans might wince at the sight of Jonathan David tearing up French football at the moment.
That’s because the 21-year-old striker revealed earlier this year that it was once his ‘dream‘ to join Arsenal.
So for the Gunners-mad hitman to be ripping Ligue 1 to shreds, it must disappoint some fans of the Emirates Stadium club that he isn’t doing it for them instead of Lille.
David was on target again last night by scoring away to Paris Saint-Germain, who netted twice in the final quarter to ultimately win the game.
But the Canadian marksman now has eight goals in 12 Ligue 1 outings so far this season.
Even better, he has scored more than Kylian Mbappe and Neymar combined [7] in all competitions.
Needed
This has to be considered a missed opportunity for Arsenal because let’s face it, they’re going to need at least two world-class goalscorers in the near future.
Alexandre Lacazette is out of contract next summer and could be gone as early as January, whereas Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang turns 33 in July.
Long term, the Gunners could’ve done with somebody like David but the more he scores in France, the more out of reach he’ll be for Mikel Arteta and Edu.
It might’ve been his top ambition to join Arsenal once upon a time but now, it must be the club’s dream to get him.
