It was confirmed earlier this month that Michael Edwards was leaving Liverpool.
The Reds’ sporting director will leave Merseyside next summer when his contract expires.
Edwards has had a huge impact at Liverpool and fans will definitely mourn him.
From Mohamed Salah to Alisson to Virgil van Dijk, he has overseen a lot of stunning signings for the Merseyside club.
But he’s also masterminded a few stunning deals in terms of departures too – and Rhian Brewster may be his best in this regard.
Bargain
Edwards sold the club’s academy striker to Sheffield United in the summer of 2020.
Brewster is the best striker to come through Liverpool’s ranks in recent years, but he has struggled big time.
Since joining the Blades – who were in the Premier League at the time but were relegated last season – he has scored just two goals.
And when you consider the fact that the English giants got £23.5 million for him, it looks like an absolute robbery.
Brewster, who failed to score in 27 Premier League games last term, will no doubt improve, and he’s only 21.
But you have to say that for now, he is nowhere near worth the money Edwards got for him and there’s even speculation about him going on loan to Nottingham Forest.
This won’t get spoken about a lot as one of Edwards’s best pieces of business when he leaves, but it should.
