Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea will miss out on the signing of Elye Wahi in the summer transfer window, according to a report.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting on Twitter this morning that Elye Wahi has made his decision amid interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham United among other clubs.
The Italian journalist has claimed that the striker has decided to move to RC Lens from Montpellier this summer.
The striker has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract and will undergo a medical with RC Lens today.
Arsenal and Chelsea to miss out on Elye Wahi
It was only on July 23 when Romano himself reported on Twitter that Chelsea were in advancing in talks over signing Wahi this summer and then sending him out on loan.
Earlier this month, TEAMtalk reported that Arsenal had expressed their interest in signing the 20-year-old and that manager Mikel Arteta personally wanted the striker to join the North London club and “help the Gunners’ Premier League title push”.
The report claimed that West Ham are also keen on the France Under-21 international striker.
However, Romano’s tweet this morning indicates that Wahi is going to stay in France and play for RC Lens.
RC Lens finished second in the Ligue 1 table last season and will play in the UEFA Champions League this campaign.

While that is quite appealing, we believe that a move to Arsenal or Chelsea is more attractive.
After all, Arsenal and Chelsea are two of the biggest clubs in the world that regularly challenge for the Premier League title and compete in the UEFA Champions League.
Wahi made 29 starts and four substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Montpellier last season.
The striker scored 19 goals and gave five assists in those games.
