Alan Shearer has named his Premier League Team of the Week, and unsurprisingly, four Arsenal players have made the cut.

There weren’t too many Premier League games for Shearer to choose from this weekend, but with the Gunners winning 1-0 in a crunch match against Villa on Saturday, a number of their stars have been given credit.

Gabriel and Ben White both start in the defence, and while Bukayo Saka scored the winning goal, it was Thomas Partey who received the biggest plaudits from Shearer.

What’s been said?

Shearer was full of praise for Partey.

“Bossed the midfield with his strength and poise. Partey has been key to Arsenal’s return to form,” Shearer wrote.

The Newcastle legend also had some special praise for Saka.

“Withstood some physical treatment to guide Arsenal to victory with the all-important winner and landmark goal.”

Reborn

Thomas Partey has looked absolutely incredible since the turn of the year.

Last season, the Ghanaian really didn’t look settled in the Premier League, his decision making was questionable, while his passing was often astray.

However, over the past few months, the midfielder has barely put a foot wrong, he’s ran the show in almost every game he’s played in, and against Villa he was once again marvellous.

Partey may have made Shearer’s Team of the Week, but if he keeps this up, he may well be in the Team of the Season.
