The Chelsea academy product has swapped the London club for the promising lights of Leeds United.
Leeds confirmed on their official website on Thursday morning that Bate has penned a three-year deal at Elland Road and they claimed that Chelsea teenager ‘attracted interest from a number of clubs’.
When Bate posted messages about his departure from Stamford Bridge and arrival at Leeds, these were just some of the comments left by his fellow professionals.
Harvey Elliott and Jody Morris wished the midfielder ‘good luck’ and Abraham added, “Congrats lil bro.”
Valencia’s Musah also posted about what Bate is leaving behind: “Arsenal v Chelsea matches,” added with a fire emoji. “Streets won’t forget.”
Bate’s fellow academy product, Billy Gilmour, also wished him ‘good luck’ in his new adventure.
Football London report that Leeds have paid Chelsea £1.5 million for Bate’s talents, as he is another Chelsea youngster leaving the club.
This looks like a seriously good piece of business from the Whites because it has been suggested that Chelsea wanted to keep him on board and pen him down to a new deal.
But he has decided, for the better of his career, that the right place for him to be is Leeds.
Well, there’s no better coach than Marcelo Bielsa and given the stack of talent in West London, it is probably easier for him to break through at Leeds than his boyhood club.
