Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Chronicle revealed that Steve Bruce is monitoring Manchester United’s Brandon Williams.
The Chronicle state that Bruce has an excellent relationship with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Mike Phelan due to his Old Trafford connections.
As a result, it is mentioned that any offer from the Magpies will be taken seriously.
The 20-year-old – who is also of interest to Southampton – has fallen out of favour under Solskjaer at Old Trafford following the arrival of summer signing Alex Telles from Porto.
Williams made 42 appearances in all competitions last term after breaking into the first-team. However, the England Under-21 international has only made five appearances this season.
The Manchester United No.33 can operate at left-back, right-back or wing-back, which would give Bruce a nice option and also provide competition for Emil Krafth, Javier Manquillo and Jamal Lewis.
However, The Chronicle say that the Red Devils will only consider loaning Williams out and nothing more, as they consider him to be a genuine star of the future.
The defender also has a contract at Old Trafford until 2024, which Spotrac believe is worth £65,000-a-week.
