Speaking on Brighton’s official YouTube channel, Adam Lallana has been discussing Jude Bellingham and his incredible World Cup so far.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been lighting this tournament up with his dominating midfield performances, and to say that Lallana has been blown away would be an understatement.

Lallana lavished praised upon the reported Liverpool target, stating that at the age of just 19, Bellingham is better than he has ever been.

Bellingham better than Lallana

Lallana stated that Bellingham is better than he has ever been.

“That’s enough. I have never and never will be half the player that he is. The fact he is 19 and is achieving what he is achieveing now, how he’s behaving, the leadership skills he has at 19. We have a few 18 or 19 year olds here with us, and for them to be watching Jude at 19, he’s stratospheres ahead of anyone else I’ve seen at this World Cup,” Lallana said.

Give himself credit

As brilliant as Jude Bellingham looks, we can’t help but feel that Lallana is doing himself a bit of a disservice here.

In his pomp, Lallana was one of the most exciting number 10s in the Premier League, while Bellingham has yet to kick a ball in England’s top-flight.

Yes, injuries affected Lallana’s career, but he was still a key player for Liverpool for quite some time and he was an incredibly technically gifted midfielder.

Bellingham may well go on to become one of the best in the world, but right now, he’s still quite an unproven player at the top level.

Lallana needs to give himself a bit more credit here because this debate is a lot closer than he may admit.
