Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has once again been discussing Tottenham and their interest in Djed Spence.
It’s perhaps the most open secret in football at the moment that Spurs want to sign Spence. Meanwhile, the defender also wants to join Spurs.
There have been so many reports this week about a deal being imminent, but, according to Gold, there has still been no real concrete progress towards that end.
Indeed, Gold says that reports stating that a move is on the horizon are pre-emptive, and according to his information, nothing is close to being done yet.
What’s been said?
Gold spoke about the Spence links.
“It’s a very strange one, from what I understand right now, there’s been no progress on this one. We know the facts of this one. We know Wilder has said he expects the move to happen, Spence wants to come to Tottenham, Middlesbrough want to get the most they can for him, while Spurs think he’s a very talented young man, but his current level of performance and experience is one very good season in the Championship,” Gold said.
“So, yeah, maybe hold off on that one a little bit, he’s a player Spurs want and Middlesbrough want the money, it appears that Spence wants Tottenham, but it’s about progress and headway being made, so maybe they can sit on that one for a while.”
“Yeah, there’s still time, that’s Djed Spence, but I wouldn’t get too excited about that one yet.”

Could eventually happen
Gold says that it’s not time to get excited about Spence yet, but this could move very quickly at any point.
Everything seems to be set out for this transfer to happen, Spurs just need to cough up the cash to get the defender out of Middlesbrough.
Of course, that’s easier said than done, but with Spurs reportedly huge fans of the wing-back, it wouldn’t surprise us one bit if this one is eventually done.
This isn’t one to get too excited about, but it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.
