Ledley King has admitted it is ‘very surprising’ that Tottenham had no shots on target during their goalless draw against Brentford on Saturday, as he told Premier League Productions (23/04/22 at 7:20 pm).

For the second game running, Spurs failed to test the opposition keeper as they dropped more valuable points in the race to finish in the Premier League’s top-four.

During the early kick-off on Saturday, Arsenal moved above their rivals by beating Manchester United on home soil.

It was a case of ‘over to you Tottenham’ and their chance to respond to that result – and they didn’t.

After the game, Spurs legend King spoke about the club’s lack of bite in the final third after previously smashing through opposition with their goals.

“That’s very surprising, considering the striking options they have on the pitch,” said King.

“But they aren’t making the right decisions, at the moment, in the final third. They aren’t making the right passes.

“It has been strange and they have been really, really poor going forward.”

It’s pretty clear that more emphasis is being put on Harry Kane, from the opposition, and they are stopping him from getting on the ball.

As a result, Tottenham are lacking that bite and creative threat going forward, which has been the case during the last few games.

Others need to step up because teams aren’t going to stop targeting the England captain.

But Spurs can’t dwell on it too long because it’s Arsenal who are now leading the charge to secure that final Champions League spot.
