Glenn Hoddle has claimed that Leeds United play a ‘very open’ game and find themselves in ‘strange’ positions when on the ball, as he told Matchday Live Extra on PL Productions (19/02/22 at 8:55 pm).

The former England playmaker added that there are situations in games where their right-back could be on the other side of the wing and this ‘very open’ way could see Leeds being picked off by Man United.

For the first time in nearly 20 years, Leeds fans will be in attendance at Elland Road to welcome their bitter rivals to Yorkshire for a top-flight showdown.

It has been a long time coming for these Whites supporters, who will be well up for it in a few hours time.

Ahead of that match, Hoddle shared his thoughts on Leeds and their open and expansive ways.

“It’s going to be an intriguing game,” said Hoddle. “Very open. When you play Leeds, it’s an open game.

“They man-to-man mark you. They chase you all over the pitch. But, when they get the ball, they are in strange positions in many ways.

“Sometimes your right-back is over on the wing, so, at the end of the day, they are very open and Man United could pick them off.”

During Leeds’ past two games, they have summed themselves up because they have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Bielsa’s side came from 3-1 down to record a 3-3 draw at Aston Villa, before Everton wiped the floor with them at Goodison Park days later.

Whilst Man United have scored a fair few goals against Leeds since their promotion, the main damage has been done at Old Trafford.

This is going to be a different story at Elland Road and they will be backing themselves to walk away from all three points with their own crowd behind them.
