The Celtic ace has a strong opinion on where Scotland should be playing their home games.

Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam spoke exclusively to talkSPORT, and responded to recent remarks made by Celtic skipper Scott Brown about the atmosphere at Hampden Park, labelling the 33-year-old’s comments as ‘strange’ and ‘surprising’.

Brown spoke to reporters earlier this week about Scotland’s home games being played at Hampden Park, suggesting that either Ibrox or Celtic Park would be better options than the 52,000 capacity arena, as quoted by the Daily Mail:

“Do I think staying at Hampden is the right move? No! Hampden is possibly one of the worst stadiums I have played in for atmosphere. For Scotland, I think we should be playing at Celtic Park, Ibrox, then the smaller games – when you only get 17,000 crowds – should be at Hibs and Hearts.”

Adam, however, does not agree with the Celtic ace’s comments.

Scott Brown of Celtic is seen at full time during the Scottish Premier League between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park Stadium on September 2, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The former Rangers midfielder, who is currently plying his trade in the English Championship with Stoke City, spoke exclusively to talkSPORT, and fired back at his former Scotland international teammate Brown, labelling his remarks as ‘strange’ and ‘surprising’:

“It’s strange. I don’t get where he sees it from. When you are playing against the smaller nations of course the atmosphere is going to be difficult, but [against bigger teams] there have been great days and great nights at Hampden. The atmosphere is unbelievable! So I don’t know where he’s coming from, it’s probably publicity a little bit. I’m surprised.”

Quite where Scotland will play their home games in the future remains up in the air, and both Brown and Adam seem to have vastly differing opinions on the matter.
