Everton supporters have reacted on Twitter to the rumours that Newcastle United want to prize Lucas Digne away from the club.

Ironically enough, with Newcastle in trouble, it’s the actions of their former manager, Rafa Benitez, that has resulted in them looking to seemingly want to sign the French defender.

Digne has fallen out of favour at Goodison Park and there are suggestions he will be heading for the exit door next month.

Added with that, it seems as though the Toffees have already agreed to sign Dynamo Kyiv’s left-footed flyer, Vitaliy Mykolenko, ahead of the re-opening of the window, which just further indicates that Digne’s time is up.

Now, according to The Sunday Mirror (19/12, p68), not only are the big pockets of Newcastle keen on him, but Premier League title contenders, Chelsea, who have lost Ben Chilwell to a long-term injury.

Everton fans have provided a mixed reaction on their £18 million player (BBC Sport) possibly heading to St James’ Park.

On one hand, they point out that he is Champions League worthy player, so why would he head towards a team at risk of relegation when he can potentially sign for a team in Europe?

Whilst others are happy to see him leave and cause havoc with his fellow countryman, Allan Saint-Maximin, down Newcastle’s left flank.

Either way, a team in Europe will get a top-quality player that’s not leaving because he’s no longer good enough.

But there has been a clear breakdown in the relationship between the player and the coach on the training pitch.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Everton fans reacting to those Digne to Newcastle rumours:
