Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has praised Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane on the Tubes and Ange Golf Life channel

Ramsdale has been part of the England squad for months now, but when he first stepped into the national team set-up the experience could have been a daunting one.

However, the Arsenal stopper says that Kane has really helped to make the atmosphere a positive one.

The Tottenham striker apparently is part of a leadership group, who make any new arrivals feel really welcome.

He said: “It started a long time ago so credit to the manager and his staff.

“But the first proper time I was called up and straight away it was like I’d been there for years.

“You talk about experienced players like Harry Kane, Jordan Henderson and Kyle Walker.

“You could just go and sit on their table, have food with them and it was like I’d known them for ages.

“It was one of the main things I really enjoyed. You could speak to anyone and have fun.”

Captain’s example

Kane is not always the most vocal leader on the pitch, but interesting insights like this show why Gareth Southgate continues to back him to wear the captain’s armband.

Ramsdale will be becoming more and more settled in the England group now too.

The Arsenal summer signing is really pushing to make his senior debut at this stage.

Ramsdale has been in wonderful form since joining the Gunners in the summer, and he has unquestionably enjoyed a better season than Jordan Pickford so far at club level.

The problem for Ramsdale is that Pickford’s form for England remains strong.

And it will be interesting to see if Gareth Southgate keeps the faith in the Everton man over the current International break.
