Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has made an interesting revelation regarding Sir Rod Stewart and Kieran Tierney.
Scotland boss Gordon Strachan has revealed that Sir Rod Stewart has had a chat with Kieran Tierney regarding the left-back’s international future, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
Tierney enjoyed a wonderful breakthrough season with Celtic last term and the youngster is now considered as one of the most promising young left backs in Europe at the moment.
With the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Southampton and Manchester City all said to be interested, Celtic have moved very quickly to tie down the 19-year-old to a brand new five year contract at Parkhead recently.
While Tierney’s future with Celtic has been sorted, his future at international level still very much remains in doubt. Tierney has already earned a senior cap for the Scotland national team during a friendly encounter against Denmark back in March.
Despite the appearance, Tierney is still eligible to play for the England national team as he was born in the Isle of Man and Three Lions manager Roy Hodgson is believed to have been made aware of the situation.
Scotland understandably do not want to lose the services of Tierney to their rivals and manager Gordon Strachan has revealed that Sir Rod Stewart is persuading the youngster to stave off the advances of England and stay loyal to the Tartan Terriers.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Strachan said, “Kieran was with Rod Stewart the other night there. I know that for a fact. So that’s him. If he’s been to a Rod Stewart concert and Sir Rod has had a word with him then we’re okay.
“That qualifies you for Scotland, that certifies that you’re in. Because if Sir Rod didn’t think you were a good enough player he wouldn’t have got the tickets he got.”
