Tottenham Hotspur fans do not appear at all keen on suggestions that both Gareth Southgate and Roberto Martinez could emerge as candidates to take over from Jose Mourinho.

The Guardian suggests that the England and Belgium bosses are both potential options for Tottenham, as Daniel Levy weighs up his next step.

Ryan Mason has been given temporary charge until the end of the season, at which point Tottenham are planning to look to a more experienced manager.

A whole host of names have been linked with the vacant post already.

But the news that Southgate and Martinez are possible candidates has not gone down well at all.

Southgate has had reasonable success with England, but more recently questions have been asked over whether he is getting the best out of the country’s attacking talent.

Given that Tottenham’s strength is in their forward players, his appointment could be ill-suited.

Martinez, meanwhile, has had stints in the Premier League with both Wigan Athletic and Everton but has never managed a club with the same ambitions as Tottenham.
