David Silva has been linked with a move away in today’s papers, while City are trying to sign his near namesake.
Manchester City fans, supporters of one of the richest clubs in Europe, must be getting frustrated at hearing about their star players constantly being linked away.
They will soon learn it goes with the territory, but that sometimes doesn’t make it easier to digest.
In the past week three of their biggest players have been linked away, Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero, and now David Silva.
Truth be told, none of them are likely to leave. City have the financial muscle to hold off on any sale, and would only choose to do so if a star player made it clear they wanted to leave, or if it were for the benefit of the team.
Two who doubts remain about, are strikers Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko, but the man in question in today’s papers is Spaniard, David Silva.

The reports emanate from the playmaker’s homeland, through Spanish paper AS, who claim the midfielder is Jose Mourinho’s top target this summer.
Even so, we can’t see City giving up one of their prized assets and key components to their squad, not when they still have so much they want to acheive in Europe.
Selling to a competitor in Real Madrid could come back to bite them in the Champions League.
Despite his form trailing off at the end of the season, Silva is a key part of CIty’s attack and a proven matchwinner capable of turning big games. There is no way they should sell- and we are urging them not to.
The player they want to bring in, apparently, is Brazilian defender Thiago Silva.
Mancini was spotted at AC Milan’s base in Italy on Monday, leading to speculation of all sorts regarding Marion Balotelli and Carlos Tevez.
Yet reports from Italy have suggested that Mancini enquired about the availability of the Brazilian defender.
It would suggest he still has doubts about his sides’ defensive capabilities on Europe’s grand stage, despite the club’s mean defensive record.
Captain Vincent Kompany would be an assured starter, so if Thiago Silva was to arrive, then Joleon Lescott would be the one to find his position vulnerable, despite an excellent season.
Milan would want around £30 million for the defender, and Barcelona are also interested. However for that price, City should probably walk away.
They already have a settled defence, and while a centre-back should be brought in, after new signing Savic failed to settle this season, whether they need to shell out a figure of that value to bring in a new face, we’re not so sure.
This really is silly season, it is difficult to establish what could be genuine, what is agent talk, and what is just plain made up.
Even so, these are two deals we don’t see happening this summer.
