‘Stop cheating’: Bukayo Saka unhappy in England training & with Manchester United star

Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka wasn’t a happy bunny with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink or Manchester United’s Luke Shaw as the England players took part in their final training session before their 2022/23 campaign finally comes to a close.

England will host North Macedonia in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Monday night at Old Trafford, with Arsenal’s star man on the right expected to feature, alongside Manchester United’s left-back.

But in England training recently, Bukayo Saka was unhappy that he was told to go in the middle whilst taking part in a Rondo drill with a number of his teammates, as posted by Haytertz TV.

Gareth Southgate’s assistant, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, was in charge of the proceedings and his decision led to the Arsenal academy product telling Luke Shaw to ‘stop cheating’.

“Both of them are going in (the middle of the Rondo),” said Hasselbaink about Saka and Rashford.

“Not me…Oh my God,” responded Saka, as he was unhappy at the call because he felt Rashford was at fault for giving the ball away and not him.

Luke Shaw then jokingly pushes the Arsenal star in the middle to which Saka responds: “Stop cheating, stop cheating, stop cheating.”

England, Saka and Shaw are in good spirits…

That’s one of the big things that has changed under Southgate and it’s the togetherness between the players, both on and off the pitch.

The players of the past have spoken about how, at times, there has been a divide if you are Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal etc…

But not anymore.

The world of social media has helped because it allows the England players to interact with each other a lot more and it brings more of a feel-good factor to the place.

Now it’s just a case of trying to get over that trophy line because, as the Three Lions proved at Euro 2020, you can’t get any closer than that.

There will be a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Southgate and Co. at Euro 2024 in Germany, with the likes of Saka and Shaw expected to play big roles and even start the opening game.
