Sam Allardyce has labelled Leeds United’s training ground as ‘fabulous’ as he prepares for a number of weeks of pure madness in the race to stay in the Premier League.
Those in the Leeds United boardroom have pressed the panic button once again, this time sacking Javi Gracia after their 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth and turned to the firefighter of all firefighters.
Sam Allardyce has kept many a team in the Premier League, but with only four games to work his magic, this is going to test every bit of his managerial skill set.
The big early positive for Allardyce is that Leeds are sitting outside of the Premier League’s relegation zone, but then he gets hit with a dose of reality.
It’s only a small matter of having to travel to one of the best teams in Europe right now and trying to beat Pep Guardiola’s treble-chasing Manchester City.
Either way, as Allardyce spoke from his office at Thorp Arch, he shared that he would have liked a bit more time to work his magic, as he told talkSPORT.
“Stood here in my office, overlooking the training ground,” said Allardyce. “The fabulous facilities here at Leeds. I am excited to be involved again.
“There is a tingle that runs through your veins when you take on a football club.
“I know it’s in a lot of trouble. I have seen a lot of trouble before. I could have done with a little bit more time. But in four games we can make a difference and keep this fabulous club in the Premier League.”
NO TIPPY TAPPY FOOTBALL
One thing is for certain, there will be no playing out from the back from Leeds in any of the four games Allardyce will be in charge of.
Footage has emerged from training recently, where the players have been told to ‘get it right’ – this is going to be one serious uphill task for the former Bolton manager.
Not only does he have little time to sort things out, but this defence is probably one of the worst in the league right now.
