Charlie Adam believes David Moyes will be a success at West Ham.
West Ham are set to appoint Moyes as a successor to Slaven Bilic, who was fired on Monday.
SkySports report confirmation of his new role is imminent.
Moyes’ reputation took a battering last year during his woeful spell at Sunderland but Adam feels his fellow Scot is ready to fight back.
He said: “I have been lucky enough to meet him a few times over the last couple of years, and recently as only last Wednesday I met him at a game – Preston against Aston Villa – and he had a real buzz about him.
“He was excited, looked fresh and ready to go and he knows it is a big challenge for him, but what a wonderful opportunity at West Ham.”
Adam’s comment hints that Moyes knew about the West Ham job being lined up several days ago, with the Hammers board likely sounding him out in case the club needed to replace Bilic.
A 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool left the club sitting in the relegation zone and Bilic looked out of ideas.
If Adam’s take on Moyes is accurate, then West Ham will be replacing a manager who needed a break with one who has just had one and is fully recharged with a big point to prove.
It could be an inspired choice, and with results poor, West Ham’s board are right to take the gamble.
