According to The Daily Mail (print edition, page 79, April 22, 2018), West Ham are preparing to make a £40 million bid for Stoke City duo Jack Butland and Joe Allen, with the Potters looking likely to get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season (click here to read more).

Butland, who earns £35,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com, has not exactly been in great form this season, but the Stoke goalkeeper is a hugely talented player who has done well in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old former Birmingham City custodian impressed West Ham co-chairman David Gold back in April of last year.

Following the Hammers’ goalless draw with Stoke away from home at the bet365 Stadium in the Premier League in April 2017, Gold praised the England international goalkeeper on Twitter and stated that he was the best player on the pitch.

Adrian is a good goalkeeper, but Joe Hart, on loan from Manchester City at the moment, has made some costly errors, and it would not be a bad move for West Ham to bring Butland to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.
