Some Stoke City fans were hugely disappointed with Everton loanee Ashley Williams following their draw at the weekend.
A number of Stoke fans have taken to Twitter to slam Everton loanee Ashley Williams after the Potters needed a dramatic comeback to earn a point away at Rotherham at the weekend.
Williams has not enjoyed the best start to life away from Goodison Park on loan. The Wales international had gone more than a month without making a league appearance for Gary Rowett’s side after being sent off in the 3-0 home defeat to Wigan in August.
And his return to the side did not go well. Williams gave away the penalty that allowed Rotherham to take the lead on Saturday, and it appeared that it was the defender losing his man from a corner that led to the home side going 2-0 up.
Stoke fought back superbly to earn a point. But the enthralling finish has not done enough to stop several Stoke fans being incredibly critical of the Toffees-owned defender on social media.
Williams will be hoping to get his career back on track after falling out of favour at Everton, but there is no question that his loan spell has not got off to a particularly good start.
Some fans have even suggested that they do not want to see Rowett pick Williams again during his loan spell. It must be noted that the Potters boast the second-worst defensive record in the division – though the 34-year-old has only made four league appearances.
