Stoke City playmaker Bojan was reportedly waiting for West Bromwich Albion to sign him on January’s deadline day, but instead Nathan Jones has decided to keep the Spaniard – and that has delighted Stoke fans.

The Daily Mail have claimed in their live transfer blog (Thursday, 15:09) that 28-year-old Bojan was a target for Turkish SuperLig side Sivasspor before Thursday’s 11pm deadline.

However, the report claimed that the former Barcelona man was waiting for West Bromwich Albion to reignite their reported summer interest.

A report from the Sun (print edition Sunday September 2nd, page 59) claimed West Brom wanted Bojan back in the summer, fittingly failing with a deadline-day move.

Following the Mail’s claim on Thursday afternoon, Spanish transfer expert Guillem Balague washed away the rumours by stating that Stoke boss Jones wanted to keep Bojan – as he sees the playmaker as the perfect number 10 for his side.

Stoke fans reacted in delight to the news that Bojan has remained at the Britannia Stadium, with 18 months remaining on his contract. One fan Tweeted: “Best news of the day, no matter who comes in”.
