Could the West Bromwich Albion winger become Rowett’s first signing after leaving Derby County for Stoke City on Tuesday?

Stoke City have emerged as heavy favourites to sign West Bromwich Albion’s James McClean following Gary Rowett’s arrival from Derby County (Sky Bet).

Stoke are odds-on (1/2) for McClean – who Rowett tried to bring to Derby in a £6 million deal four months ago (Irish Mirror) – ahead of the Irishman’s boyhood club Celtic (10/1) and newly promoted Cardiff City (16/1).

Burnley – who bid for McClean ahead of the campaign – had led the betting (evens), but have since drifted out of contention at 20/1.

McClean told the Irish Mirror earlier this week that he wanted to leave West Brom for both Derby and Burnley, before adding that playing under Darren Moore – the new Baggies manager – has made him ‘feel like a footballer again’.

The 29-year-old admitted however that he could still leave the Hawthorns as he enters the final year of his contract this summer – although he is 6/4 to stay.

Will Stoke be his next destination?
