A number of Stoke City fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the news that their final Championship fixture before Christmas has been selected for live television coverage by Sky Sports.

Nathan Jones’ charges were due to take on Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday 21 December but the fixture has now been chosen for Friday night coverage, with a 7:45pm kickoff on 20 December.

As a result, Stoke fans are now faced with the prospect of a 330-mile round trip on the final Friday before Christmas, and quite a few Potters fans were left raging at the development, making their feelings known on social media:

Stoke are currently 23rd in the Championship table on eight points, while Boro are three points and two places better off, which left some fans especially baffled as to why a bottom-of-the-table clash would be moved to a Friday night.

Up next for the Potters is Millwall away on Saturday afternoon.
