Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has suggested to The Scottish Sun that he is open to joining Rangers at the end of the season.

Adam started his professional club football career at Rangers and was on the books of the Ibrox club from 2003 until 2009.

The 32-year-old Scotland international midfielder, who earns £35,000 per week as salary at Stoke according to Spotrac.com, has suggested that he is open to returning to the Gers.

Stoke are struggling for survival in the Premier League at the moment and could find themselves in the Championship next season.

Adam told The Scottish Sun when asked about a Rangers return: “It’s not for me to make a decision, it’s for other people to decide what’s going to happen at the end of the season.

“Unfortunately we’re looking at relegation but we’ll see what happens. If they want me to stay we’ll speak about it and if they don’t I’ll look at something else.”

Reunion with Steven Gerrard?

Adam played with Steven Gerrard at Liverpool during the 2011-12 season, and him moving to Rangers could see him reunited with the former Liverpool midfielder.

According to BBC Sport, Gerrard is on a shortlist to take over from current Ibrox manager Graeme Murty at the end of the season.

Rangers will take on Old Firm rivals Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.
