Whose manager will be next to leave – Stoke City’s, Southampton’s, Newcastle United’s, Swansea City’s or someone else’s?

The managers of Stoke City, Southampton and Newcastle United are now among the favourites to leave their jobs next in the Premier League.

Speculation surrounding the vacant Everton position had left Marco Silva (Watford) and Sean Dyche (Burnley) occupying short odds with Sky Bet, but Sam Allardyce’s imminent appointment has since seen the pair drift from contention.

And that, in turn, has caused Mark Hughes (Stoke), Mauricio Pellegrino (Southampton) and Rafa Benitez (Newcastle) to feature more prominently on the bookmaker’s list – behind front-runner, Paul Clement of Swansea City (10/11).

Hughes – whose side have won one of their last six top flight matches – has had his odds cut from 14/1 to 5/1 in little over a fortnight, while those of Pellegrino – one in four – and Benitez – also one in six – have shortened even further, to 7/1 and 8/1 respectively, in that time.

Despite their poor form, Southampton (11th), Newcastle (12th) and Stoke (16th) are all currently out of reach of the relegation places ahead of Wednesday night’s fixtures.

But a couple of bad results, combined with good ones from those below them in the coming days, could soon change all that, and increase the discomfort of their respective managers.
