The former Watford man could be heading to Stoke City, according to the bookies.

Changchun Yatai's Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo (L) talks to referee during the Chinese Super League match against Shanghai SIPG in Shanghai on March 4, 2017.

Popular bookmakers SkyBET have installed the Potters as surprise 8/1 outsiders in the race to sign former Watford man Odion Ighalo from Chinese side Changchun Yatai.

The 28-year-old left the Hornets for Changchun this time last year, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £20 million, and he has enjoyed a relatively successful spell in China, scoring 15 goals in 27 outings thus far.

He really impressed during his time in England, scoring 36 goals in 90 league appearances for Watford, and proved that he could cope with the physicality of the English game.

Oghalo’s direct and pacey playing style would make him a useful signing for whichever ever club wins the race for his signature.

SkyBET believe that the Nigerian could be heading to Stoke, and list them as 8/1 to sign him.

Whilst they are fairly long odds, the Potters are actually favourites, ahead of Brighton and Hove Albion and West Brom at 12/1.

With just 60 hours remaining until the transfer window slams shut, this will certainly be one for Stoke fans to keep a very close eye on.
