Stoke City are said to be keen on signing Dwight Gayle from Newcastle United this summer.

Dwight Gayle of West Bromwich Albion is blocked by the assistant referee Andrew Fox at The Hawthorns on December 03, 2018 in West Bromwich, England.

Stoke City fans seem to be keen on rumours that they are leading the race for Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle.

The Northern Echo claims that Stoke want to sign Gayle from Newcastle this summer, with the Magpies prepared to sell for £20 million.

The Potters appear to be ahead of the competition in the race to sign the prolific Championship scorer.

And Stoke fans are eager to see the Newcastle man brought to the Potteries next term.

If Stoke did sign Gayle from Newcastle it would help them take a big step closer to promotion.

Gayle effectively guarantees goals at Championship level and would be a big upgrade on what Stoke have up-front currently.

Stoke do not face a clear run to get hold of Gayle though, as there is also thought to be interest from West Bromwich Albion and Fulham.
