Stoke City have signed Kevin Wimmer from Tottenham.
Kevin Wimmer has sealed his move from Tottenham Hotspur to Stoke City.
Manager Mark Hughes is excited about the deal and believes his side have pulled off a real coup.
He said: “Kevin is an undoubted talent and he will significantly add to the quality of the group of players that I already have at my disposal.
“We put a real emphasis on trying to enhance the defensive areas of the squad this summer and we feel that we have been able to do that.
“Bringing Kevin here is a real coup in my view, because he is a hugely talented young player who will undoubtedly add further quality to the group.”
West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace were both keen on Wimmer.
The centre-back has performed well for Tottenham when called upon but found it hard to establish himself as a first team player behind Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
Last season though he slipped behind Eric Dier as a back-up option at centre-back, and Tottenham’s record move for Davinson Sanchez has accelerated his departure.
Stoke have brought in Bruno Martins Indi, and Kurt Zouma on loan, and with Ryan Shawcross also available, Wimmer will have to battle to earn a spot in Stoke’s first choice XI.
