According to The Guardian (Transfer Live blog, 12:15pm, October 5, 2020), Stoke City are leading the race for Southampton goalkeeper Angus Gunn, amid speculation that Leeds United also want him.

HampshireLive reported on September 28 that Leeds in the Premier League and Championship club Stoke are interested in signing Gunn from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

The Guardian (Transfer Live blog, 12:15pm, October 5, 2020) has claimed that Southampton are keen on getting the 24-year-old some minutes and are open to sending him out on loan.

The report has added that Stoke are ‘at the front of a queue’ in regard to signing the former Manchester City prospect on a loan deal.

Leeds United to miss out?

With Illan Meslier the first-choice goalkeeper at Leeds and given that Kiko Casilla is still at Elland Road, Gunn would not get much playing time at the Whites.

While Leeds could do with a player like Gunn to increase competition in the goalkeeping department, it would make sense for the 24-year-old to move to Stoke, as he is likely to get more playing time at the Potters.
