Aston Villa beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 in the Championship today.

Aston Villa earned a dramatic 3-1 win away at Sheffield Wednesday today, with late goals from Albert Adomah and Tammy Abraham, and Stan Collymore took to Twitter in reaction to the victory.

Collymore, a boyhood Villa fan tweeted:

Aston Villa now sit in fifth place in the Championship table, three points clear of seventh placed Derby County, after what could turn out to be a vital three points against the Owls.

The Villans trailed early in the game at Hillsborough through Gary Hooper’s strike, before John McGinn levelled after 22 minutes.

Dean Smith has undoubtedly overseen huge improvements since taking over at Villa Park in October last year, and they have every chance of earning promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since their disappointing relegation in 2016.

And today’s win at Sheffield Wednesday will go a long way to securing their place inside the top six come what May.

Whether they can go on and secure promotion, however, remains to be seen.
