Trevor Sincair has hit out at Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta for starting Thomas Partey this afternoon.
The Gunners were given a huge pre-match boost when Arteta named the £45 million summer signing in his team for the visit to Tottenham Hotspur.
Partey hadn’t kicked a ball for Arsenal since before the last international break, going off injured at half-time in the 3-0 defeat by Aston Villa.
And it looks like the Ghana powerhouse might have been rushed back for the Spurs game today.
Dani Ceballos replaced Partey on the stroke of half time, illustrating that the latter wasn’t ready for his Arsenal comeback.
And Sinclair has written on Twitter that there’s major elements of desperation on Arteta’s part for starting him in the derby.
It’s worth remembering that the 38-year-old has been a football manager for all of 11 months.
Arsenal winning the FA Cup in August might’ve led people to believe Arteta is far more advanced managerially speaking than his experience suggests.
The Spaniard clearly has a lot to learn and he is going to make more mistakes, but he absolutely needs to learn from them because Sinclair is right, starting Partey can’t have been a measured decision.
