Kevin Campbell has noted how Kai Havertz is treated differently on social media in comparison to inside the Emirates stadium following his big-money transfer to Arsenal.
The former striker acknowledged that Kai Havertz hasn’t got going yet at Arsenal, with many questioning the transfer before it was signed, sealed and delivered.
That just put extra pressure on the 24-year-old, who after playing as a number nine for Chelsea, has been deployed as a number eight by Mikel Arteta.
But Kevin Campbell added that, on social media, the perception is that the versatile forward is ‘stinking the place out’, but it’s ‘very different’ inside the ground, as he told Curtis Shaw TV.
After being a starter for Mikel Arteta during the opening few weeks of the season, the German star has been coming off the bench of late.
And, over the weekend, Kai Havertz proved his worth when he helped Gabriel Martinelli open the scoring during Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester City.

Kai Havertz’s treatment from Arsenal fans
“We want our £65 million player to be ripping it up, but he isn’t, at the moment,” said Campbell. “Offensively, we aren’t ripping it up, at the moment, so it’s going to take time.
“It seems like every bad ball he plays gets magnified. I have seen people make a lot more mistakes than Havertz and not get called out. That’s the life of a £65 million signing at Arsenal.
“I have been at the ground. What happens at the ground to what happens on social media is very different.
“On social media, you would think that Kai Havertz is stinking the place out left, right and centre. Costing us week in and week out. He’s not. He does put a shift in. He is a continuity player. It’s just taking him longer to settle in what his manager wants him to do.”

Unbeaten Arsenal
The main thing that matters is that Arteta has belief in his new signing, and after eight games, they are sitting second in the table.
That win over Man City will be morale-boosting, even though it doesn’t have much effect on the Premier League table because of how early it is.
But three points are three points at the end of the day, as Arsenal have, once again, the chance to motor forward and pick up another healthy lead at the top.
