Leeds fans have taken to Twitter in disbelief after they watched Marcelo Bielsa withdraw Diego Llorente during the 2-0 defeat to Brighton.

It was 1-0 when Bielsa decided to swap the Spaniard with Pablo Hernandez in the 79th minute.

In the same minute, Danny Welbeck – who Llorente had kept under control – took the ball down brilliantly before firing past Illan Meslier.

It was an immediate indication that Bielsa had done something wrong, and the Leeds fans were well aware of the mistake on Twitter.

One fan said that Bielsa had a ‘stinker’ with his 79th minute decision.

Another said that the Argentine’s substitution was one of the most baffling switches they’d ever seen the ex-Marseille boss make.

In truth, with or without Llorente on the pitch, Leeds weren’t good enough today at the Amex Stadium.

As WhoScored shows, they only had 11 shots in comparison to Brighton’s 17, and just couldn’t make the breakthrough against Graham Potter’s men.

It was a similar game to the reverse fixture at Elland Road, in which Brighton were victorious by a 1-0 scoreline.

Hopefully, this will be a lesson learnt for Bielsa.

Next time he sees one of his centre-backs dominating the opponent’s striker, he should probably leave it that way.

Let’s see what the Leeds fans on Twitter had to say about it…
