Arsenal fans on Twitter were seriously impressed with the performance of James Rodriguez as he helped Everton record a 1-0 win against Tottenham yesterday.

The 29-year-old moved to Goodison Park this summer in what was one of the more high-profile and standout buys of the summer.

On his first showing for Everton against Spurs, he looked tidy in possession, always looked to pass forward and was picking out his teammates at will.

His performance impressed the Arsenal fans who still think the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich man has magic in his feet.

The ease in which Rodriguez was playing in the middle of the park was highlighted by the Arsenal fans, who will see him in action against their side this season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin opened the scoring for the away side when his thumping header from Lucas Digne’s free-kick was not dealt with by the Spurs defence.

  4. Brighton (H)

  5. Liverpool (H)

Even though he didn’t assist or get on the scoresheet, it was a pretty impressive debut from Rodriguez, who will be hoping to wow the blue half of Merseyside even further.

It’s perhaps an easier clash coming up for Ancelotti’s men because they take on Salford in the League Cup on Wednesday.

And if the 2014 World Cup star features in that one then the neutral will be sure tuning in because they have been entertained thus far.

Here is a selection of Arsenal fans reacting to Rodriguez’s performance:
