Aston Villa fans on Twitter were delighted to see the Christian Benteke of old showcase himself once again after he netted a brace for Crystal Palace against West Brom on Sunday.

Roy Hodgson’s men put five past relegation-threatened Baggies, with Benteke rolling back the years and producing performances he used to churn out regularly when at Villa.

Well, it’s fair to say that the Villa Park faithful enjoyed Benteke’s brace at the Hawthorns and were pleased to see him finally enjoying his football out in the middle.

Ever since the £27 million [BBC Sport] hitman left Villa Park in 2015, he hasn’t been able to recapture the form that saw him bully players on a regular basis in the Premier League – aside from one campaign with Palace.

This may well be the springboard, and most importantly, the confidence he needs to add consistency to his game.

A selection of Villa fans were reminiscing about the good old days with the powerful Belgian and how he would be ‘unplayable’ on his day.

Other than finding the back of the net against Villa themselves, those in the West Midlands will happily see their former player rip it up elsewhere in the league.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Villa fans reacting to Benteke’s performance against the Baggies:
