It’s taken a year, but former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen had his best moment in Italy last night.

The Denmark international has had a pretty rotten 12 months since quitting Spurs to join Inter Milan last January.

But last night, Eriksen, who joined Tottenham in 2013, scored a 97th-minute free kick to beat local rivals AC Milan at San Siro.

The North Londoners picked up £18 million for him but there’s been speculation in recent weeks about Daniel Levy bringing him back on a short-term basis, though the Lilywhites are reportedly reluctant to pay a loan fee.

In any case, Jose Mourinho does need a player like Eriksen.

That’s because Dele Alli has barely played in the Premier League this season and Giovani Lo Celso seems to yoyo in and out of the treatment room at Tottenham.

Here’s how some fans of the club reacted to the Dane’s heroics last night:

Will this happen? Well, last night’s goal was a potential gamechanger.

Eriksen’s problem at Inter has never been about ability – it’s been confidence that’s held him back and perhaps his heroics on a stage like this will bring about an upturn in fortunes and game time.
