Leeds United fans have been left annoyed after the FA tweeted a picture of Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins on his first call-up to the England squad.

Watkins beat Patrick Bamford for a call-up to the England side for the upcoming international break, with the Leeds forward overlooked.

Bamford came very close to getting the nod by Gareth Southgate, but ultimately it was decided that Watkins was a better choice.

The decision has irked some Leeds fans, who have argued that Bamford has shown better form in recent weeks than Watkins.

And Leeds fans were quick to speak up about their displeasure when the FA posted images of the squad arriving to training yesterday.

Watkins has enjoyed a fine season like Bamford, but his form has actually slowed in recent months.

Bamford, meanwhile, has continued to score fairly regularly for Leeds, and he must feel slightly hard done by to have missed out.

England play friendlies against San Marino, Albania and Poland over the coming fortnight, leaving Watkins in with a good chance of making his debut for the Three Lions.
