‘Still heartbroken’: Some fans react to Liverpool & Arsenal’s transfer decision

It’s been a tough few weeks for Southampton supporters, who added with their 9-0 loss in midweek, also missed out on the signatures of Arsenal’s Ainsley-Maitland Niles and Liverpool academy product Neco Williams.

On transfer deadline day, the injury-stricken side were desperate to bring in some defensive cover into their side.

Liverpool’s rising star, Williams, was a name on their list, as was Arsenal’s versatile machine, Maitland-Niles (Sky Sports).

But those on Merseyside opted against letting Williams leave, whilst Maitland-Niles made the switch to West Brom instead.

It left the Southampton supporters frustrated and annoyed that they couldn’t bring anyone in because they were clear that both, or either player would have improved them.

All of that helps no-ones cause when Ralph Hasenhüttl is without nine first-team stars to their trip to Old Trafford one day later and they end up shipping nine… again!

But all Saints fans can do now is moan and groan because missing out on that player might now prove to be costly this season, as a possible top ten finish, may well be off the cards.

A player like Williams would have benefited from a loan move to another Premier League side, but with Liverpool’s injury problems, it’s understandable why he cannot leave.
