Matthias Ginter has seemingly ruled out a move to the Premier League with the Arsenal target telling BILD that he has a lot left to accomplish at Borussia Monchengladbach.
As Joachim Low himself said, a 26-year-old World Cup winner remains rather ‘undervalued’ both in and outside of his native Germany.
After three years as the central defensive lynchpin at the heart of an exciting, counter-attacking Gladbach side, former Dortmund youngster Ginter really should have cemented his position as one of the most reliable centre-halves in Europe.
But despite the fact that he appears to have put a penchant for sloppy mistakes behind him, it is only now that the £15 million powerhouse is being linked with a big-money move to one of England’s biggest clubs.
Sky Germany claims that Chelsea and Arsenal have expressed an interest, alongside Inter Milan.
And, while Ginter seemingly has no plans to walk away from a Gladbach side who flirted with the Bundesliga title before Bayern Munich turned on the afterburners, he should be pleased to see that his ever-improving performances are finally being noticed.
“I took the next step in Gladbach and I still have a lot to do here,” says Ginter, who earns £60,000-a-week at the Bay Arena.
After sneaking into the Champions League places at the expense of Bayer Leverkusen on the final day of 2019/20, Monchengladbach will have a seat at Europe’s top table when next season kicks off.
That is more than can be said of an Arsenal side who need to win Saturday’s FA Cup final if they want to avoid missing out on continental competition for the first time in 25 years.
