Tottenham Hotspur fans are already living one dream after seeing Gareth Bale return this past summer.
The legendary Welshman re-signed for them on a season-long loan from Real Madrid, after sealing a world-record £85 million move to the Spanish giants from Spurs back in 2013.
But his former Tottenham team-mate Luka Modric won’t be joining him in North London.
The Croatia international, who also played alongside the 31-year-old at Real, told the November edition of Four Four Two that he feels ‘too old’ to make the same move as Bale.
Modric turned 35 in September and with his contract up next summer, he must start thinking about the future.
But a switch to Jose Mourinho’s side isn’t on the cards it seems – and here’s how some Tottenham fans reacted to his comments on Twitter:
In addition to winning four Champions League titles and two Spanish league crowns, Modric also won the Ballon d’Or in 2018, at the age of 33.
Even though it was two years ago, to be ranked the best player in Europe at an age where most players’ careers are winding down is one hell of an achievement.
If he wasn’t too old to win that gong then he isn’t too old to play for Spurs.
As Tottenham fans will tell you, class is permanent.
