Aitor Karanka was linked with taking over at Leeds United in the summer.

Leeds United’s surprise appointment of Thomas Christiansen caught everybody by surprise in the summer including the bookies.
Aitor Karanka was the favourite to land the role, and the Spaniard remains without a job as he considers his next move after leaving Middlesbrough.
Now with Leeds floundering, the Whites might want to belatedly consider giving Karanka a crack.

Christiansen began well, but Leeds’ form has fallen off with a succession of defeats seeing them fall down to 10th place.
Karanka knows the Championship, getting Middlesbrough promoted in 2015/16, and his defensive approach could help solidify the team’s recent leaky record at the back.
The next game up is against Middlesbrough, Karanka’s former club, who have former Leeds boss Garry Monk in charge.

One key reason Karanka could be a success at Leeds is because he has worked under Whites sporting director Victor Orta before.
While the pair had mixed success, Karanka knows better than anybody how to work under Orta and this could help Leeds ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Christiansen may feel he is deserving of more time at Leeds, but with Karanka still available for hire, the pressure is on for him to turn the team’s form around quickly.
