Stiliyan Petrov has told The Glasgow Evening Times that Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong could be worth £20 million.
Armstrong joined Scottish Premiership giants Celtic from Dundee United in February 2015.
The former Scotland Under-21 international moved to the Bhoys along with Gary Mackay-Steven for a combined transfer fee of £2 million plus add-ons, according to BBC Sport.
The 24-year-old has been playing well this season and has established himself as an important player in Brendan Rodgers’s team.
Former Celtic and Aston Villa midfielder Petrov has praised Armstrong, and has claimed that the midfielder could be worth £20 million.
“How much would you pay for a box-to-box midfielder?” Petrov told The Glasgow Evening Times about Armstrong. “If he keeps developing as he has he can be worth £20million.
“If he’s in his prime and he scores 10-plus goals every season for the next four seasons you can hold out for a lot.”
“I am very impressed [by Armstrong],” added Petrov. “Very, very impressed. I think he can become something special. He has shown signs of becoming one of the leading midfielders, box-to-box.”
Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 58 points from 20 matches.
Rodgers’s side are 19 points clear of second-placed and Old Firm rivals Rangers and have a game in hand.
The Hoops will return to action on January 22 when they take on Albion Rovers away from home at the Exsel Group Stadium in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
