Aston Villa are currently sitting fifth in the Championship play-off places.

Stiliyan Petrov has heaped praise on the ‘exceptional’ talent that is Jack Grealish and the impact he has had on Aston Villa in recent weeks.

Dean Smith’s side are currently sitting fifth in the Championship play-off places, but just over a month ago their chances of finishing in the top-six looked very slim.

But when Grealish returned from his near three-month spell on the sidelines, he helped the team to a thumping 4-0 win over Derby County and the team have not looked back since. They have won six league games on the bounce.

Speaking to Weekend Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (06/04/2019 at 9:50 am), Petrov credited Grealish for what he has done for the team and praised the players for chipping in with the goals.

“Jack has always been like that, he is a player who likes to take responsibility,” Petrov told talkSPORT. “He likes to take people on. He creates space for everyone else and he’s an exceptional talent.

“With Jack in the team, Villa looks a completely different team. But everybody else you can see in the last couple of games everybody has been scoring goals from all over the team. Defenders, midfielders and strikers.”

On Saturday, Villa scored two goals in stoppage time to beat Sheffield Wednesday and their former boss Steve Bruce 3-1 in what was another crucial day in the race for promotion.

Despite going a goal down, midfielder John McGinn pulled a goal back with a sublime finish early in the first half before Steven Fletcher saw his penalty saved by Jed Steer just after the break.

Despite being second best in the second half, substitute Albert Adomah and striker Tammy Abraham wrapped up another crucial three points for Smith’s side.
