The Frenchman has been in fine form this season for Celtic.

Celtic legend Stiliyan Petrov has been commenting on the future of striker Moussa Dembele – amid talk of a £20 million move from West Ham United this week.

It was reported by Sky Sports earlier today that West Ham have not made a £20 million bid fOr the French striker – despite multiple reports to the contrary.

The Bulgarian was talking to the Evening Express in Scotland when he confirmed his belief that Dembele should remain at Parkhead for the time being.

He stated:

“In today’s market, you see silly transfers and big money. If someone comes in with £20million-plus, it will be very difficult for Celtic to try to hold him.

“But it’s going to be down to the player where he wants to go and what he wants to do: does he want to achieve more with Celtic and develop more and then move on or is he just going to move and start a new chapter?

“There is nothing wrong, he is playing for one of the best clubs in the world, so it’s not a big problem if he stays for a couple more years and develops as a player, brings his record up and scores a lot of goals and be confident when he moves somewhere else.”

Dembele has been in fine form for Brendan Rodgers’ team since he joined the club from Fulham in the summer on a free transfer.

He has scored an incredible 19 goals in 36 games for the club already this season – which has clearly caught the eye of potential suitors.

However, He has only just joined Celtic and it would be a surprise to see him leave already.

West Ham are in dire need of a new striker after struggling to score goals throughout the campaign – with Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri proving flops.

But Dembele does not appear to be on his way to the club.
