The Tottenham Hotspur man is yet to set the Premier League alight.
Stewart Robson has told ESPN that he is not convinced by Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen just yet.
The Dutch forward joined Tottenham in a £18.5 million move from AZ Alkmaar (according to The Mail) in the summer transfer window.
But fast forward a few months and the 23-year-old has not yet scored in the Premier League for Spurs.
In fact, both of his goals for the club have come from the penalty spot in League Cup outings against Gillingham and a much-changed Liverpool XI.
Given that Harry Kane has been injured for over a month, Janssen, who has made 14 appearances this season in all competitions, has had chances to impress, but those opportunities seem to be passing him by a little.
And Robson says that the Netherlands hitman is not going to take the Lilywhites to the next level, in the absence of Kane.
He said to ESPN: “Harry Kane scored some brilliant individual goals [last season] when things were going against them, and it just turned the tide for them.
“They haven’t had Harry Kane at his best this season but I still think with Son coming into the side, who has done well, I’m not sure Janssen is quite so good. Janssen is not going to be the centre-forward, if Kane’s not playing, to get Tottenham to the next level.”
Mauricio Pochettino’s side seem to be missing Kane more and more with each passing week.
They have only scored twice in their last four games – none of which have been victories – and although Son Heung-min initially stepped up to the plate, his goals have also dried up in recent weeks.
The South Korean is expected to lead the line when Spurs host Premier League champions Leicester City on Saturday.
