Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers should consider moving for Stewart Downing, in a move which could suit Middlesbrough too.
According to The Sunday People (print edition, page 55, June 25, 2017), Stewart Downing wants to stay in the North – and that could make him an option for Glasgow Rangers this summer.
Downing has been made available by Middlesbrough on a free transfer, but he is not keen to relocate.
Unfortunately for Downing, many of his options in England are situated down south – meaning that a move to Scotland may be more appealing.
And Rangers should offer Downing the chance to join them, as he could be an excellent addition for Pedro Caixinha’s side.
Downing made 30 Premier League appearances for Boro last term, scoring on one occasion and claiming three assists, and he would bring a great deal of experience to Ibrox.
Downing may be reaching the twilight of his career, at the age of 32, but he would still have something to offer Rangers.
Pedro Caixinha has spoken of his desire to see a better quality of delivery from wide areas, and Downing would certainly offer that.
And, considering the former England international is available on a free, he could be ideally suited to Rangers’ needs.
